False Front Sinks

If you are trying to do your kitchen over without spending a ton of money replacing cabinetry, and you want some of the cooler things like an apron sink, we have the answer for you.

We hate it when in the “box thinkers keep people from getting what they really want so we decided to do something about it.  Here’s what we mean.  You have the old standard kitchen sink cabinet  and you won’t be able to get a new cabinet to match the finish and make it so you can have an apron front sink so you think you have to scratch the idea.  NO YOU DON’T.

When we come to template for your countertops we will measure your sink cabinet for a modified soapstone sink.  We will remove the top rail of your sink cabinet, take out the false drawer front and create a sink that has a soapstone panel to fill that space.  It will look like you have a 6-7 inch tall apron sink but the truth is that behind the cabinet door your sink is actually the standard 10 inches deep.  A picture tells the story well now that I told you what we have done, so take a look.

So here’s the great news, you don’t have to settle for an undermount sink, you don’t have to shop for a sink to fit in your cabinet.  We will make the sink for you and you will have both your sink and countertops in one week from the day we make your template.  That is rabbit out of the hat kind of stuff.  It is what we do and we are happy to do it for you.

False Front Cabinet Modifications

The first step in building a false front sink for you is to remove the false fronts from the cabinetry.
You can see that both the top rail and the center stile will need to be removed.

In order to protect the finish of your cabinetry we will apply blue masking tape for the saw to run across.

The  stile and rail are removed and all cabinetry modifications are complete.

We now attach a 2 x 4 on the inside of each cabinet end down 10” from the top of your cabinet.IMG_1325
